Our City

Listed below are some of the many ways you can use the gifts God has blessed you with to make much of His name and Glory in our city

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading

The goal of Upward Basketball Slidell is to share the love of Jesus Christ with the children of Slidell and their families.  We have a first class basketball and cheerleading program that encourages every player to develop their sports skills as well as their character.  Our program runs from January to April each year.  Volunteers are needed for coaches, referees, game day coordinators, and prayer partners. Another unique way that people can serve in this ministry is by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ during half time of the games.

Pantry Ministry

Our food pantry is here to serve people in and around the Slidell area. We receive food and grocery items from area grocery stores, Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans, and our own church family. Volunteers are on hand to meet with and minister to folks with needs: not just groceries but prayer requests, a listening ear, and encouragement, too. Call for an appointment.

OPEN: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

APPOINTMENTS:

To make an appointment call 985-290-1359 during Pantry hours – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Appointments are scheduled at 15 minute intervals and please call during the week you wish to make an appointment, preferably one day in advance.

People arriving without an appointment will be able to reserve the next available time slot.

“Give a Cup of Water” Benevolence Ministry

The “Give a Cup of Water” Benevolence Ministry gives everyone an opportunity to minister to individuals and families in need.  Financial contributions made to this ministry help pay for health needs, utilities, clothing, and counseling.  This ministry also offers an opportunity to lend a helping hand to children, adults, and seniors.

H.O.P.E.S. (Helping Orphans Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually)
This ministry is dedicated to educating our church family on the foster care and orphan crisis, advocating for these children and families, and giving our church family opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  A few ways that you can volunteer for this ministry are working in our foster care closet, assisting with foster care orientations, collecting orphan care items, and participating in local and international mission trips that focus on these children and families.
